Tom's Thoughts this week...(20200911)

This week on our blog...

I really enjoyed recording our podcast this week with Susan Bryant. She’s one of those CPA's that just “gets it” when it comes to working with her clients. She and her entire team at MB Group really dive into their client’s businesses and provide practical financial advice and guidance. This week's blog expands on our discussion about things you can do in finance and accounting to maximize business value. Check it out! #maximizebusinessvalue. READ MORE

This week on our podcast...

Is your CPA a trusted advisor to you? They should be. In this week's podcast, my guest was Susan Bryant, CPA, who is a principal at the MB Group, a CPA firm, based in North Texas. I met Susan a few months ago in a professional networking group called ProVisors. Let me start out by saying that not all CPA's are cut from the same cloth. Some are bookkeepers, some do taxes, and then there are some who really look at accounting as a calling to help their clients be better. They take a surrogate CFO role in the businesses they serve, and they truly are trusted advisors. That’s how Susan and the MB Group work. I network with lots of CPA's because they are typically close to my prospective clients - business owners. Susan is the first CPA who, after hearing what we do at Mastery Partners, who said “oh my gosh, my clients really need your help!” She really understands why every business owner needs to have a solid exit strategy. Hope you catch it here or watch us on youtube. The video is recommended. No time to read, here is the transcript.

This week on my screen and on my mind...

The Importance of Financial Forecasting LINK

After recording our amazing podcast this week, I was looking at Susan Bryant's blog on the MB Group's website, and found this pure gold about the importance of financial forecasting!

Raising Your Business Like A Child LINK

I typically tell business owners that their business is not their child. But here's another point of view from our good friend Larry Lane with VR Business Brokers (and I agree with his logic!) You can catch me and Larry live with Dan Vermeire on Wednesday at the Business Pros Webinar. To get more event information and register, click HERE

The Ivy Lee Method LINK

People frequently ask me how I can crank so much work out on a consistent basis... One of the principles I use is planning and prioritizing tomorrow's work the night before. That's nothing new because it was a tip given to Charles Schwab by Ivy Lee over 100 years ago. I recently stumbled onto this great article about that very subject.
